The Tavistock Passion – Good Friday (14th April 2017)

Under the leadership of producer and chorus master, Steven Martin, over 100 Volunteer actors, singers, and stage crew came together from across the local community to perform the first Tavistock Passion Play in living memory – written and directed by David Stranks, with scenes linked by original music from award-winning local composer Andrew Wilson.

A large crowd followed the action, across five locations around the historic Parish Church and the Victorian civic buildings.

Congratulations to all concerned for their wonderful portrayal of the events leading up to the Passion and Crucifixion of Jesus. Special congratulations go to Billy Allen for his portrayal of Jesus and the moving and effective crucifixion scene – much enhanced by the evocative singing from the choir.

Eight Mary Budding trustees and friends stood among the crowds, holding collecting buckets. We much enjoyed the friendly atmosphere and were very grateful for the generous donations to the Trust. In total we made an amazing £1426.73 (and 10 cents!) Many thanks to all!
